Don't Double Our Council Tax
On 15 September, Wandsworth Conservatives confirmed they are doubling council tax bills for all Wandsworth residents: an average annual increase of £958.
This increase is cruel and unnecessary and will really hurt hard-pressed local people.
Too many local families are just about getting by. This sudden blow will mean no summer holiday, no new school shoes - or more debt.
There’s no financial need for a vast increase this year. The decision is purely political. The Conservatives are whacking it up now so that they can cut taxes before the next election in four years’ time, and bribe you with your own money.
We are calling on Wandsworth Conservatives to scrap their council tax hike.
