In May 2022  Wandsworth Labour was elected by residents of Wandsworth to deliver a fairer, compassionate and more sustainable borough after 44 years of Conservative administration. We are proud to have served you.

Delivering better services for the same low Council Tax is a key priority for our Labour; in our term of office from May 2022- May 2026 we delivered the lowest council tax in the country

What do May 2026 election results mean for Wandsworth?

Labour won 28 seats, the Tories 29 and the independent one.
This means our council is now in No Overall Control.
And while Labour got the most votes, the Tories will get the first go at running the council.

This is hugely disappointing. Our fears that a split in votes between Labour and the Greens would let the Tories in – has come true. While more than half of all the votes were for Labour and the Greens, we will have a Tory council.

So what’s next? Well, your Labour councillors will continue to work in our communities, champion fairer policies and stand up for you.
We’ve shown what Labour can achieve in power in these last four years.

I’m proud we set the lowest Council Tax in the country, built 500 council homes, increased in our recycling rate by 25% and became a Borough of Sanctuary for refugees.
Sadly, all of that is at risk with the cuts the Tories have planned. But we will fight for a fairer Wandsworth.

We will also take the time away to listen, to learn and to make sure we are ready to serve again with fresh ideas when our time comes.

We now have Labour Councillors, a Labour Mayor and a Labour Government – all serving the people of Wandsworth.
