Balham Neighbourhood Wardens – you
Balham Neighbourhood Wardens – you'll soon see them Borough-wide

Wandsworth Labour will introduce Neighbourhood Wardens in all our town centres to tackle anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and flytipping.

Following the success of the Balham Warden Pilot, the benefits of visible council officers are clear. Approachable, uniformed officers make residents feel safer, support security staff on our high streets and deter anti-social behaviour. Residents told us they want to see this replicated across Wandsworth’s high streets and we are listening.

Today, Wandsworth Labour are announcing that our Neighbourhood Wardens will be deployed to the rest of the borough. We will listen to local residents and businesses in Wandsworth’s town centres and introduce uniformed wardens to every town centre to tackle anti-social behaviour.

As well as our neighbourhood wardens Wandsworth Labour can today announce, we will continue to:

  • Invest in landmark prevention programmes to combat violence against women and girls (VAWG) in schools, tackling toxic influences and promoting positive masculinity
  • Promote healthy and respectful relationships in schools, through the Mayor of London’s toolkit to prevent sexism and misogyny
  • Build on the success of the Balham Forum to run more listening exercises in other town centres to better understand their local needs and take action to support them.
  • Deliver better lighting to brighten poorly lit public walkways and parks, making our bridges and tunnels lighter, brighter, and safer
